About the Studio
The Mary Kay Manning Dance Studio opened in 1983 by Mary Kay Manning
who resides in North Royalton with her husband, Gregory. Her children
are Tamara and Michael. Mary Kay offers a large curriculum of classes
in jazz/hip hop, ballet/pointe, acro, lyrical and many fitness and
specialty classes, enabling her students to be placed in class
according to both age and ability. Technique and stage presence are
stressed in each class and demonstrated yearly at the annual dance
production. Mary Kay is an active member of Dance Masters of America
where she attends continuing dance education seminars several times
annually. She was featured in the New Cleveland Woman Magazine as one
of North Royalton's successful business women and was voted "Best Dance
Studio" in the Cleveland/Akron Family Magazine. She presently serves as
Secretary for the North Royalton Chamber of Commerce.
During Mary Kay's past twenty-seven years in operation, she has
continued to present a yearly production featuring all her students.
She has developed a student teacher program for future dance leaders
and has organized performing groups of various ages to exper ience
outside performances and competitions (winning several first place
awards). Her students were asked by Sesame Streets' Bob McGrath to
perform live with him at the Palace Theatre in ‘99. As a group, her
students toured New York City and had the opportunity to experience
dance on Broadway! Most recently, the studio was honored to have
Artistic Director of the Russian Ballet and Master Teacher, Valery
Lantratov, share his expertise. Mary Kay, along with her dedicated
instructors, led her students to many successful endeavors including
the winning of the title "Junior Mr. Dance of Ohio" and "Junior Mr.
Superstar".
To compliment Mary Kay ’s vast experience in dance is her professional
team of instructors. Her assistant director and daughter, Tammy,
graduated from Akron University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree
in dance. Tammy received the Senior Award for outstanding dance
accomplishments. She directed and performed for the professional Crunch
Dance Team in ‘98/’99. Tammy has been dancing since the age of 5 and is
currently teaching and choreographing. Tammy ’s creative and innovative
persona reflects in the studio ’s curriculum of classes. Tammy ’s
dancers are testimony to being technically trained and passionate about
dance.
With two locations for dance study along with certified instructors,
Mary Kay ’s philosophy stands strong. She believes that love for dance,
hard work and dedication along with cheerful, positive discipline is
the formula for making each student feel special as she and her team
truly believe they are!
